Holy Paladins share the same limitations as other healing classes - they should level primarily as main healers in dungeons. You can partner with a high DPS class, but trying to go it alone is likely to end in frustration. Soloing a Protection Paladin for questing is possible, but very slow, since their abilities are centered more around keeping aggro and surviving, not on high DPS output. Since tanks are always in high demand, you'll almost never have to wait for groups. Like most tank specialists, Protection Paladins should focus on leveling primarily on dungeon grinding rather than questing. You won't have as many tools for that as a Protection Paladin, but you should do fine.įor this reason, Retribution is usually recommended for leveling Paladins, particularly if you want to preserve your options. You can even put on a sword and shield and main-tank leveling dungeons. DPS is respectable and Ret Paladins are difficult to kill, between their mitigation and ability to self-heal.
